This morning as I was going through the morning rituals (shower, shave, etc) there was a story on the radio (local news break) regarding the Rugby Club in South Sound.
Some jackass(es?) went 4x4'ing across the pitch leaving deep tire marks all over the field, making it more or less unusable until they get out there and fix it and level it out and replant new grass there. This is the same pitch that only recently recovered/repaired it's surface after Hurricane Ivan last year.
On a side note, one of the top cops on the island last year, Derek Haines, is very involved in the Rugby Club and coaches the youth programme. Last year after the hurricane, the field was strewn with debris and rubble from the waves (ostly rugby-sized chunks of coral) so he got on the radio and said that they were having tryouts/youth fun day down at the pitch where the kids could come out and learn how to throw a rugby ball and practice by chucking all the debris off the field... heh heh...
Anyway, the Rugby club has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of the jackass(es) involved in damaging their field. Notice how it doesn't say arrest or apprehension by the RCIP... I pity the fool who tore up that Rugby Pitch. If the Rugby players find him before the police do... well, it'll make for an interesting autopsy! (and of course, I'll try and get some photos of it and post em up here... maybe I should change the name of this website to CSI: George Town! :)
