I'd like to apologize in advance to Rich for wailing on his bandwidth.

My buddy James who's over in Baghdad sends emails every week or to some of us back here that he used to work with. Sometimes I post up some of it in here under the headings “Postcards from Baghdad” so search the site if you want to see more of them.

This morning he popped online in Yahoo Messenger and said he needed my expertise on something and could I help? Being that I've just spent most of the week un-fucking computers from this MSN worm that's going around, I figured his buddy's laptop that he was using got hosed too. I was a little off the mark on that one. James had this video clip he was trying to send out, but it was 4.5mb and hotmail was choking on it (not to mention that my Hotmail inbox is only 2mb big, compared to Yahoo's 1gb and Gmail's 2.5) so he sent it from his yahoo to my Gmail and I sent him an invite for Gmail as well. He was trying to figure out a way to get the video out to his usual suspects (me, john, matty and the rest of the ex-sotos crew) so here it is.

A 3 vehicle Close protection team (24 lads) was being escorted back through a certain part of the city after a drop off (no principals / VIPs on board) by the U.S. Forces.

A half arsed (but potentially deadly) ambush was mounted by some insurgents....

 

They chuck a couple of grenades out in to the road and explode!!! - They screwed up the timing though and no one was hurt... Phew!!!!!!!

 

Watch the chaos un fold as the convoy floors it:

• The lead humvee looses off a few rounds (at what I have no clue...!!!...???) and then floors it.
• People on the left of the screen, on the side walk jump out of their skin and trip over the curb...
• The 3 protection vehicles (Blac Landcruiser, Suburban & Excursion) go into evassive support formation... and they then floor it - 1 almost takes a direct hit at the rear axle!!!
• And then... The suicidal VW Beetle driver just slams on the 'anchors' right in the middle of the road.... almost collecting all 3 armored cars in the rear!!!!!! - He should have floored it too!

In fact pretty much everyone is flooring it.... Just look at the black smoke pouring out of all the exhausts!!!

Also take note on how the street 'suddenly empties' of vehicles.... As Monty Python said "RUNAWAAAAAAY!!!!!"
