When we were finished with the kart racing, we headed back into town from Tsawassen and met up again at Sammy J Peppers in Coquitlam. THE Sammy J Peppers, the infamous Coquitlam flagship where so many of the hottie bartenders and servers in Cayman got their start.
Our reservation was for 7:00, but we went in early anyway. They had cordoned off an entire banquette of booths along the back of the lounge for us. Right around 7:00 Ork's cousins showed up, and then over the next couple hours more people showed up til there was about twenty of us in there. Whatever I've said previously about the absolutely stunning quality of the waitstaff at Sammy J Peppers was cemented for all time on Saturday night.
Brandi was taking care of us Saturday night, and when I asked her if any of the girls from Cayman had come back to work here when they left, she said no, but she knew a few of them. I've got to hand it to her, she handled us with aplomb. It couldn't have been an easy job to have three tables with twenty-odd guys getting drunker by the minute, ordering Steak Bites like they were going out of style, runs back and forth to the bar, keeping everything running like a greased weasel AND keeping track of separate checks (I said to break it into tables rather than a separate check for each person, to make it a little easier on her) all the while taking care of other tables, too?? I'm pretty sure she got a pretty fat tip at the end of the night, too.
Orkley started off at Sammy J's behind the 8-ball. He was queasy from the go-karts, and then had to drive all the way back to Coquitlam from Tsawassen AFTER that, and then he was expected to drink and do shots at Sammy's? Poor Ork isn't a seasoned drinker like some people I know, so I was feeling bad for him already. To START drinking when you're already not feeling well? That can't be good... He had a few drinks, and then the shots started coming around. I lost track but I think he did eight or nine, including the one in the picture above. A guy's gotta have a last muff-dive with a beautiful woman before he gets married, right? Towards midnight we were starting to get ready to pack up and head off to the third and final stop of the night, the casino.
While we were paying bar tabs and organizing rides to the casino, Ork disappeared. I highly doubt he was outside having a cigarette with the smokers, and he wasn't in the bathroom, so where was he? Turned out he was outside, "getting some fresh air".
Doesn't he look a little rough? When a grown man sits down on the curb in front of a sewer drain, you know it's not going to end well...

Once (we thought) his stomach was empty, we asked him if he still wanted to go to the casino, and trooper that he is, signaled his intentions Way to go, Ork!
Once we got there, however, he had a change of heart. It took us about twenty minutes to get him OUT of the car, and then he only made it about twenty yards through the parking lot before he found a curb to sit down on and manufacture more decorations for the landscaping. About an hour later, my skin had contracted by about 15%, my nuts had retreated back into my body and I could see my breath! Ultimately, we got him upright and mobile and he shuffled into the casino and took a seat in the coffee shop. I took that opportunity to stand next to the table... in front of the fireplace! I could feel the blood start to flow through my body once again and it felt... luscious.
Ork didn't make any further than that. He couldn't keep his head up and Security came around and said "no sleeping in the casino" so in the end we loaded him into a cab and sent him home. To his credit, when I went to his place on Sunday morning to pick him up for breakfast, he was a little fuzzy, but good to go.
A successful night was had by all (except maybe Nick who dropped $200 in the casino before Ork even made it in the front door) and everyone survived and there aren't too many incriminating photos that are locked away behind an https:// password protected photo gallery. :)
