Normally SCUBA diving is a non-competetive sport. Sure there are always "those guys" who try to make a competition out of EVERYTHING but for the other 99% of the diving population, diving is about enjoying the view, relaxing, taking photos or... anything else besides competing to see can go the deepest or make their air supply last the longest.
This is a different kind of contest. Over at Divester.com they're having a little contest to celebrate the launch of a new book, called Diving the World by Beth and Shaun Tierney. All you have to do is answer a ridiculously quick nine questions about where you like to dive and where you'd like to dive and then identify the fish who's pictured as question #10. First person to correctly identify it wins a copy of the new book.
Divester's been around for a few months now, and they've got some pretty good stuff. One of their semi-regular features is called "This is why we dive" which is a Flickr group of people's "best" underwater photos. I've contributed a few pictures from my flickr photostream (now Im just another flickr user, my Pro account has run out) Next time I get around to editing my blogroll they're going in there in place of that lame Scuba Diving News link in there that turns up stuff about NCAA diving more often than anything about SCUBA diving.
