Shivering on the 49th Parallel

Apparently there's a big drug war going on right now. Tuesday night, a man got shot out in East End. While he was in the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, they came to finish him off, but instead of that, one of his “crew” popped a cap in one of the perps, killing him right there in the hospital.

I've been off the island since Thursday morning(more on that in a bit), but when I got back today the headline on the Cayman Net News reported ANOTHER shooting, apparently linked to the other two. They have suspects in custody and are bringing them before the court and all that, but someone in the office just came back from downtown and said that there are SNIPERS on the rooftops and MP5 armed police patrolling around the courthouse.

OK, I know that the RCIP have MP5s in the armory, they're assigned to the Drugs Task Force, and the only other times I've seen them out “showing a presence” with their automatic weapons was in the aftermaths of Hurricane Mitch, Michelle and Ivan.

I'll post more on this when I have time to read the paper and put up some links.

I happened to drive past the courthouse and saw this apparition on the roof wearing full protective, black gear and pointing an alarmingly huge gun down at the road....then there was another even wearing a black face mask like a balaclava patrolling on the road - I actually got goosebumps of horror realising what Cayman has come to recently. Did you read about the two ladies who got attacked in Melmac Ave? They themselves wrote a very explicit letter to the paper explaining what happened, too.
