When it comes to sports, I usually follow Hockey throughout the season, and that's about it. Football? Yeah I'll watch it if im bellied up to the bar on a Sunday, but I don't usually pay attention unless it's the Super Bowl or the Grey Cup. Soccer? I'll catch the scores, and watch the Euro, or the World Cup tournaments.  Baseball? Baseball takes too long. It's a sport that was designed for highlights, just like golf. Basketball is a weird one, though. I don't normally watch basketball, especially NCAA basketball, until it gets down to the Final Four.

This year, I got dragged into a bracket pool. Not knowing shit about basketball, I did about 20 minutes of research and made my picks.

I made a few controversial picks. I had LSU beating Duke in the regionals, where practically everyone else in my pool had Duke going all the way and winning. When we got down to the final four, I was in second place, trailing by 20 points. The person ahead of me in the pool had no teams left, so if UCLA won and went through to the finals, it would put me on top and win the pool regardless of the outcome of the national championship on Monday night. As of right now, UCLA is up 59-43 with 1:02 remaining. Barring a miracle, UCLA is going through to the nationals.

UPDATE: UCLA ran the clock and won, which means I did too! w00t! bragging rights and a few bucks are mine!

Speaking of winning pools, Im up on top of our hockey pool, too. There's only about 8 or 9 games left in the regular NHL season, and Im up by 36 points on second place (my mom), and 61 points on third place. The point difference between me and Mike "The Shocker" Moniz down in the basement is 229 points behind me. Again, barring another miracle, I'm going to finish in the money in the hockey pool. I won't be SO bold as to say I'm going to win it, because I gained the 30 points that I was trailing my mom earlier in one weekend, but since we only pay out on first and second, Im pretty much guaranteed a payoff.
